The Platonic Solids
 

 
This website will help lead you through an explanation of the Five Platonic Solids. 
 
The Goal of instruction:  The students will understand the basic properties of the “Platonic Solids”.  Each student will utilize the formula of determining the number of faces, edges, and vertices of each Platonic Solid.

bullet The students will explain the history and origin of the five Platonic Solids. 
bullet The students will define the key definitions (face, vertex, and edges) and identify them on each of the five Platonic Solids.
bullet The students will create the five Platonic Solids out of paper models.
 
 
Instructions:  Each student will work through the following six webpages (IW2-IW7)  At the end of each page is a corresponding rubric.  I encourage each student to look at the rubrics prior to completing the work.  This will ensure the maximum grade.  If you have any questions along the way, feel free to contact the teacher at any time via email (teacher@email.com).
